Fishers fined for over limits of walleye Two Prince Albert men
received fines for exceeding
the limit of fish allowed
under the Fisheries
Regulations in Provincial
Court Oct. 8 as a result of
being caught with an over
limit of walleye July 12,
2009.
The two, Gary Anderson
and Nick Kalinowski,
both of Prince Albert, were
stopped on Highway #2
south of La Ronge; they
“were found to be in possession
of 30 walleye over
their limit. The possession
limit for walleye is 5 for
each angler,” quoted from
an e-mailed Ministry of
Environment news release
received by The Northerner
Oct. 28.
“They had 40 fish
(walleye) between them;
it’s quite a large amount
over (the limit) … Excessive
fishing can harm
efforts to maintain game
fish population,” said Gary
Provencher, of the Ministry
of Environment,
The two received fines
of $475 each, with a Victims
of Crime Surcharge
of $80, for a total of $555
each. Each of the men was
also ordered by the court
to pay a $1,500 donation
to the SASKTIP. Inc. reward
program; the amount
of each donation was part
of plea bargain agreement
negotiated between the
Crown Prosecutor and the
Ministry of Environment
lawyer, Provencher said.
