Charles, also locally
know as “Chew,” was arrested
by members of the
La Ronge RCMP Detachment
at 8:27 p.m. on Fri.
Nov. 20, with assistance
from the community, according
to Sgt. Carole
Raymond, RCMP media
relations officer.
“The community assisted
in the apprehension,
which is really
good because it means
the community is taking
an active role in ensuring
their community is safe,”
Raymond said.
Charles appeared in
Provincial Court in La
Ronge Mon. Nov. 23.
La Ronge RCMP
members issued a warrant
for Charles’ arrest
on charges of aggravated
assault; the RCMP sought
community assistance in
the efforts to apprehend
Charles, according to a
RCMP new release dated
Nov. 20, 2009.
Charles is charged
with aggravated assault
following an incident,
which occurred at approximately
8 p.m. on
Nov. 18.
According to the
news release, Charles is
charged with Breaking
and Entering with intent,
Mischief under $5,000,
sexual assault, overcoming
resistance to the
commission of an indictable
offence and uttering
threats against a person,
according to the Nov. 20
news release.
“Charles has known
all his victims during the
reported assaults. Police
are concerned for the
safety of those who know
Charles,” quoted from the
Nov. 20 news release.
