Karis Oscienny was fi rst to sign the La
Ronge Relay for Life Hands of Hope banner
at the Legion on Friday, Feb. 4 to kick off the
Relay for Life plans in La Ronge.
The Hands of Hope banner can be signed
by any cancer survivor and will be carried
during the fi rst lap, the Survivor Lap, of the
Relay for Life event in La Ronge May 13.
During the Relay for Life event, people,
who are cancer survivors, will make the fi rst
lap of the Relay.
The Relay for Life committee unveiled the
banner and the Luminaries, bags, which are
heat and water resistant, and can be lit either
in support of or in memory of someone, who
has had cancer and can be purchased from
the planning team. “Anyone can purchase
them. You don’t have to be family, member
of the team, a friend or co-worker,” said Deb
Thome, of the planning team.
“We’re asking survivors to come out, to
contact the committee. They don’t have
to be part of the team to participate in the
Survivor’s Lap.”
The committee is planning events, such
as a Survivor’s Luncheon, leading up to the
Relay. The plans will be unfolding soon.
“Stay tuned for up coming events,” Thome
said.
