A son stabs his father in Quebec

A 60-year-old man was stabbed to death by his own son in Quebec on Sunday morning. The victim was taken to hospital in an “unstable” condition for treatment of throat injuries.

The attack took place around 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a residential complex located on Avenue Quatre-Bourgeois at the corner of Avenue Begone.

According to the testimony of the neighbors, it was a dispute between the father and the son that led to this tragedy.

“I heard screams, so I went to my window and saw two men clinging to each other and fighting. They were both on the floor,” said a resident of the area, who then noticed blood on one of the two men. “He had blood all over his neck.”

Alerted by shouting, the couple saw a sudden rush of police and paramedics who received “several calls” to the file.

“The man was literally covered in blood around the neck, in the throat,” the woman explains, although the latter was “on his feet” when help arrived.

However, initial reports from the police state that his condition is critical. According to SPVQ spokesman David Poitras, the 60-year-old was “unstable at the time of transport to hospital”.

“The person was bleeding from the stabbing,” the agent said, however, the man’s life was not in fear.

The suspect, a 21-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.

“He was arrested for attempted murder,” the SPVQ said, although the man also had to be taken to hospital.

“He has been admitted to the hospital but is being held. Once he is discharged, he will go to our cells awaiting his appearance.

Under investigation

According to a neighbor the Journal met at the scene, the suspect appeared “disorganized” at the time of his arrest, suggesting a file related to mental health issues.

“He was crying that he is like this because of his father. He was really disorderly,” said a couple living in one of the flats in the complex.

The police, on their part, say that it is not too late to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Forensic Identification Service and SPVQ investigators will visit the site during the day to try to clarify the circumstances of the collision.
