Facebook owner Meta unveils new $1,500 virtual reality glasses targeting businesses

Meta is in the midst of an institutional transformation that she says will take years to complete. The new headset costs $1,100 more than the Meta Quest 2 (formerly Oculus Quest 2) and contains new technologies such as high-resolution sensors that let people see virtual reality and mixed augmented reality in full colour. It also has new eye-tracking technology and “natural facial expressions” that mimic the wearer’s facial movements, so their avatars look natural when interacting with other avatars in virtual reality environments.

“Meta is positioning the new Meta Quest Pro headset as an alternative to laptop use,” said Rolf Ellenberger, founder and director of VRdirect, which builds virtual reality environments for businesses. But he added that for companies, working in the virtual worlds of Metaverse is still “a bit of an extension.”
