A one-year-old child died Wednesday afternoon at a family daycare in Quebec.
At 3:42 p.m., 9-1-1 was called for an ambulance in the La Haute-Saint-Charles department for a one-year-old child in cardiorespiratory arrest. Emergency services went to the residence on rue des Huards, located near Jacques-Bédard in Lac-Saint-Charles.
The first officers on the scene attempted CPR while other officers attended to everyone in the daycare room.
After that, the medical personnel took the child away. Police immediately contacted the parents before taking them to the hospital. Streets were blocked off for ambulances to be rushed to the hospital centre.
A person was treated for nervous shock at daycare.
The child’s death was registered at the hospital center and confirmed by the SPVQ in the evening.
In this case an autopsy will be required. Daycare staff and parents will meet.
