Caught in a whirlwind of harassment allegations again since a complaint was filed in court, the CAQ MP for Côte-du-Sud, Marie-Eve Proulx, has finally withdrawn her candidacy for the October 3 election.

During a press conference in Montmagny, Marie-Eve Proulx explained that she wanted to avoid becoming a distraction for her political party.
“I have decided that I will not be a candidate in the next election,” he confirmed.
“Three years of false accusations against me, it’s heavy,” she said, choking back tears.
As of Sunday, Marie-Eve Proulx was still campaigning on her own terms. But seeing his opponents rehashing the “same old stories”, he preferred to leave his seat.

Six days before the official start of the election campaign, potential successors were already jumping at the doors of the CAQ, one of our sources said on Monday.
Several protesters demanded the withdrawal of his nomination, especially as our investigative wing revealed two weeks ago that a fresh complaint of psychological harassment against him is in the hands of the Administrative Labor Tribunal (TAT).
But internally, the reaction would have raised a lot of discontent, another source said.
The first complaint, involving one of its former employees, led to an out-of-court settlement at taxpayer expense a few months ago.
The same two files are the subject of an inquiry commissioned by the National Assembly, but Mr.me Proulx threatens reporters with copies of the statements.
