On Friday morning, the eastbound lane of LaGorder Boulevard in Montreal was forced to close for 40 hours after a shooting that injured one person.

At the height of the Galeries d’Anjou Interchange, a time when Sûreté du Quebec’s top criminal investigators are allowed to examine the scene, the motorway is closed to axle traffic between exit 77 and exit 80 until 7 p.m.

The shooting was heard at around 2:45 a.m., when police officers were called from Sûreté du Québec to the 78th kilometer of Highway 40.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a man hit by a gun with one or more shells, a police spokesman said, noting if the victim was in his vehicle.

Marith Bolduk of SQ, who was taken to the hospital, said her condition was stable and there was no fear for her life as the victim’s age was not known. The investigation is still ongoing.

Highway 40 in the direction will be closed for “a few more hours”, it added.
