A 20-year-old Fuelsville man suspected of sexual offenses against a 14-year-old girl was arrested at his home Thursday morning. Sherbrooke police have opened an investigation and do not rule out victims coming forward.
According to initial information received by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Police Force, the incidents are said to have “taken place on Snapshot and Dictoc sites, personally”. Beginning in the spring of 2020, photos that are considered inappropriate are said to have been exchanged on several occasions, culminating even in a face-to-face meeting.
Authorities confirmed that Jonathan Russell, 20, was “already in charge of a similar case” prior to the case. He was questioned Thursday morning at the headquarters of the Service de Police de Sherbrook (SPS), Ru Maurice-Howell.
Meanwhile, a search was conducted at the young man’s home in order to gather more evidence.
At this point, investigators have not ruled out the possibility of the teenager becoming “other victims” online or in person. The media coverage of this case gives authorities hope that other victims will appear in the coming days. “We are asking for the public’s help in finding out if other young women may have been in contact with this man.
During his appearance, computer seduction, a call to sexual intercourse, sexual intercourse, production and possession of child pornography and many other conditions or releases were brought against the suspect.
His return to court is scheduled for July 29. The Crown has already expressed its opposition to his release for the future.
