The Sûreté du Québec is actively searching for an armed and dangerous man believed to be in Saint-Elzéar-de-Bonaventure, south of Caspésy.
Police have asked residents in the area to lock themselves in and stay away from windows. At 3:35 p.m., an emergency alert was sent to Quebecers’ cell phones to alert people of the dire situation. According to officials, there is talk of an “immediate threat.” “In the targeted area: stay indoors, lock doors, stay away from windows, and follow orders from local authorities,” the warning message read.
The identity of the wanted suspect is currently unknown, but the Sûreté du Québec has released a photo of the man on its Twitter account.
A large number of police were in the area by late afternoon trying to find the suspect. According to our information, the man is suicidal.
Police have been searching for him since Thursday night till Friday and they suspect that he might be hiding in the forest.
He would not have caused any casualties yet, but he would have threatened before he took the keys to the fields.
