CHICAGO (CBS) – A United Airlines plane was forced to return to O'Hare Airport after a maintenance issue Saturday morning.
The Federal Aviation Administration said Airbus 320 Flight 2137 was headed to Salt Lake City International Airport when a possible oil warning error occurred.
There were five crew members and 149 passengers on board at the time.
The flight landed safely around 11 am, and passengers were dropped off at the gate. Customers were able to depart for Salt Lake City on a new plane.
It's been a tough week for airlines, especially Chicago-based United.
On Friday night, a United flight from San Francisco to Mexico City made an emergency landing in Los Angeles due to a hydraulic system problem.
Earlier Friday, a United plane veered off the runway after landing in Houston.
On Thursday, two cars on the ground were damaged when a wheel fell off a United Flight plane outside San Francisco.
An American Airlines plane returning from the gate collided with a parked Frontier plane.
On Monday, a United Airlines plane caught fire after bubble wrap was sucked into the engine.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating all of these incidents.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice is conducting an investigation into the January case. 5 doors exploded on an Alaska Airlines plane. At issue is whether Boeing followed the terms of the deferred prosecution agreement. Boeing entered into that agreement and paid $2.5 billion after two fatal crashes of two 737 MAX aircraft in 2017 and 2018.
