The fourth round of the Australian Open gets under way, with home favorite Alex de Minaur heading the night session on the middle Sunday of the tournament against fifth seed Andrey Rublev.

Serbian Novak Djokovic qualified for the quarter-finals earlier on Sunday, after losing only three matches, by defeating Adrian Mannarino 6-0, 6-0, 6-3. He will face Serbian Taylor Fritz after he beat seventh seed Stefanos Tsipas in four sets, while Jannik Sinner also reached the quarter-finals after winning in straight sets over Karen Khachanov.

In women's singles, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka also achieved a comfortable victory, beating Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 6-2. Coco Gauff, the US Open champion, qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Magdalena Fritsche 6-1, 6-2.

There was a big shock on Saturday when world number one and top seed Iga Swiatek crashed out of the Australian Open after losing 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Czech teenager Linda Noskova. British top seed Cameron Norrie qualified for the fourth round for the first time after an impressive four-set victory over eleventh seed Casper Ruud.

Cameron Norrie's 'brave' new plan leads to Australian Open breakthrough

Cameron Norrie entered his third-round match against Casper Ruud at the Australian Open knowing that history was not on his side. The British No. 1 lost all three of his matches to Ruud, the 11th seed and three-time Grand Slam finalist, while winning just one set of the eight matches he played. In his past five attempts, the top seed in Britain was unable to reach the second week of the Australian Open, and he only survived in his previous match, against Giulio Zipieri, after falling behind in the Italian qualifiers by two sets on Thursday.

But despite knowing that defeat would have continued his declining form at major tournaments, after a disappointing season last year, Norrie rose to the challenge and produced his most impressive performance at a Grand Slam, beating Ruud 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. 6-3 in just over three hours. Often a cautious hitter who preferred to stay close to the baseline for long, physical victories, Norrie took a completely different approach and attacked the net relentlessly against the Norwegian to revitalize his career at this level.

Novak Djokovic equals a record by reaching the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the 58th time

Novak Djokovic equaled Roger Federer's record by reaching his 58th Grand Slam quarter-final in style at the Australian Open.

The world number one looks set to do just that by becoming the first player to achieve a hat-trick win at the tournament when he won his first 13 matches against Adrian Mannarino.

The French player seemed very comfortable when he finally qualified in the second game of the third set, but Djokovic, who is participating in his 73rd major tournament, won easily 6-0, 6-0, 6-3.

After starting the tournament ill and playing two long matches, Djokovic now appears in ominous form, although he still angers the crowd at times.
