Asleep at the wheel: Police found a cache of weapons in his trunk

A man in his thirties was arrested in Quebec for falling asleep at the wheel on drug charges before officers found all sorts of weapons in his vehicle.

A citizen contacted police after noticing a motorist parked on the edge of Boulevard Pierre-Bertrand near Boulevard Lebourgneuf at 11 p.m.

When they arrived at the site, officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) found the vehicle passed out at the wheel with its hazard lights on.

“First, the police arrested him for being impaired by drugs,” explains SPVQ spokeswoman Sandra Dion.

But when they searched the interior of the car, they were quite surprised.

Specifically, they found a disassembled and loaded 12-gauge shotgun, 12-gauge ammunition, an electric pulse gun, an “air-soft” plastic gun and a tactical vest.

Peace officers also got their hands on a telescopic baton, brass knuckles, a tactical vest and a white powder that looked like cocaine.

“Project MALSAIN investigators met with the suspect this morning and the latter will appear [lundi] In the Quebec court in the afternoon,” says Mme Dion.
