Dalton Schultz: In Houston we focus on football, and in Dallas it was the Zoo

Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has signed a new contract to stay in Houston, and says he's grateful to be where he is — which is in the same situation but in a different world than his former NFL team.

Schultz played for five years in Dallas before signing a one-year contract with the Texans last year, and he said in press statements: Pat McAfee Show There is a huge difference between the two teams because in Houston the players can put their energy into playing football.

“The focus is just on football,” Schultz said of playing in Houston. “Going back and telling some people about being around the Cowboys' practice facility and game day, and describing some of the interactions and things you see on a daily basis, it surprises a lot of people. While the Texans go about their business without interruption, the Cowboys give tours of their team facility while the players try to do their work, Schultz said.

“There are people who literally do the rounds while you're lifting in the weight room. They have a one-way mirror for people to look at,” Schultz said of Dallas. “It's a zoo, literally.” “There are people tapping on the glass, trying to get people's attention while they're doing an energy cleanse or something. It's different. That's the brand they've built, that's what Jerry Jones likes, that's the way they run things, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that you don't realize how many eyeballs there are and how much of that can distract from things in the locker room. It's in the facility, until you go somewhere else and say, “Oh my God, there's none of this.”

The Cowboys are America's team, but Schultz is happy to play for a team that doesn't let America watch them practice.
