Departing of a “great doctor”: A Quebec pediatrician tragically dies while tending to the exterior of his home

The tragic death of a young Quebec pediatrician is sending shockwaves through the region, while many parents, devastated by the loss of a “great doctor with a heart,” are saluting his dedication and professionalism.

The 46-year-old doctor collapsed while doing outdoor maintenance at his home on October 29 and was hospitalized for nearly a week in a coma.

Many tributes

In social networks, dozens of parents wanted to pay tribute to the doctor, who treated their child with kindness and sympathy, we can read.

“This is a great loss for many. I consider myself lucky to have had him in my path. Without the slightest doubt, he was a wonderful man for his people. He knew how to make a difference for us,” wrote, among others, mother of one boy, Leah d’Amboise, d.R Fecto.

“He was in his place with the children and very reassuring to parents worried about different children… He will be irreplaceable!” wrote Cynthia Poulet-Thibault.

Colleagues who lost him

The father of the family, described as an athlete and passionate about his work, will leave a huge void at the propulsion clinic in Neufchatel, where he practiced in addition to being a director.

Joined by NewspaperThe clinic’s administrative assistant, Marie-Claude LeBland, said she was deeply hurt and saddened by the sudden departure of a “friend and mentor”, whom she described as “many talents”.

“David was always genuine, no matter what role he took on […] With David, there were never half measures; He is an honest, truthful, empathetic and funny man,” she said.

Mme LeBlanc was touched by the sense of solidarity emerging from Quebec’s pediatric community, while many doctors have already raised their hands to care for T’s young patients.R Fecto, now orphans.

David Fecteau worked as a pediatrician and sports physician for over 10 years after receiving his medical degree from Laval University. He also practiced in Trois-Rivieres.
