Dungeonborne mixes strategy, extraction, and Battle Royale gameplay, and you can check it out at Steam Next Fest

Dungeonborne is an upcoming first-person PvPvE dungeon crawler developed in Unreal Engine 5 that thrusts players into a dark fantasy world, where you'll feel every sword swing as you slay monsters with might and magic. Dungeonborne combines dungeon crawling, extraction worlds, and Battle Royale gameplay to spice things up and create a unique twist on the genre.

Starting February 2nd, you can experience Dungeonborne during the game's open alpha as part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest!

Here are four main reasons you don't want to miss it if you're looking for a new dungeon crawler experience.

Dungeonborne is more than just a mindless dungeon crawler – you'll need to think quickly on your feet

Although Dungeonborne may seem like a traditional dungeon crawler at first, there is more to it than meets the eye. As you venture into the gothic depths alone or at a party with two friends, deadly traps and dark shadows await at every turn. Trust nothing, seek to exploit everything to your advantage. Find high ground and ambush your enemies, lure them into traps, or even take the form of a treasure chest and wait for your enemies' greed to betray them.

Sharp tactical intelligence, team composition, and understanding of the terrain are all essential to securing your treasure as you navigate this treacherous world. You'll need to make some tough decisions as you play: will you escape early and secure your spoils, or will you choose to stay back and search for more power while risking losing everything?

It's the on-the-go decision-making introduced by the extraction mechanic that spices things up in Dungeonborne, along with an ever-shrinking safe zone that will force you to make tough decisions, often mid-combat. But winning does not mean being the last one standing. Your main goal is to get one piece along with some cool loot that you can use later.

Master Gothic Dungeons with powerful classes and an extensive combat system

Dungeonborne draws heavily on RPG inspiration, and there will be plenty of classes for players to master. Although there are familiar fantasy archetypes such as Fighter, Priest, or Rogue, you will also be able to follow more specialized classes.

Envelop your enemies in ice as the Cryomancer or rain hellish fire upon all who oppose you when you don the mantle of the Pyromancer. If you're a fan of necromancy or the occult, Dungeonborne is what you're looking for. Put on the boots of a Death Knight, capture enemies with spectral chains, and drain their life force.

Brutal combat in Dungeonborne rewards precision. Practice and master basic combat and parrying, carefully manage your class abilities, and use the vial and potion system to give you the advantage in combat. But beware: the more you venture, the stronger the enemies become.

Party composition makes a big difference in Dungeonborne, so choose carefully when deciding who to adventure with. While the open Dungeonborne alpha will only feature human and zombie races, more options will become available as the game gets closer to launch.

It's all about the loot – looting, crafting, and improving to your heart's content

After snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, it's time to gather your spoils and prepare before returning to battle. Once players return home, they can sell their loot at the in-game auction house or boost it further. Every piece of loot is important and has its place in the game, deepening the building process and giving you more options.

Dungeons and dungeons shine with Unreal Engine 5 visuals

The dark, gothic backdrop of Dungeonborne is brought to life in detail thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5. Immerse yourself in the stereo sound that lets you hear every clash of blades, every creak of a door revealing your enemy's location.

Experience Dungeonborne this February as part of Steam Next Fest

The Dungeonborne open alpha will be playable from February 2, and will be part of the Steam Next Fest that starts on February 5 and ends on February 12, giving you over a week to try it out for free. Developer Mithril Interactive will take all player feedback from the open alpha and use it to improve the game in ways that support the community.
