EA has officially announced that UFC 5 is in development, with a full reveal due in September.
Last year, Insider Gaming learned that UFC 5 was in development after Fight Night reruns stalled. In an internal email, Fight Night is on hold to ensure UFC 5 is released on time and to the standard UFC fans are accustomed to from the series.
The announcement, posted on Twitter, directs people to EA’s website, where people can sign up to learn more about the game here.
EA Sports UFC 4 received generally positive reviews upon release, but was heavily criticized by fans for the addition of in-game advertisements that were added two weeks after the game’s release.
In North America, it was the 16th most downloaded game of 2021 on PSN. It was still in the top ten of the PS4 download charts in both the US and Europe in April 2023.
In June, EA announced that it was splitting the company and was taking the next step in its “strategy by aligning our studios into two organizations that report to me – EA Entertainment and EA SPORTS”.
