Former boxer David Lemieux’s vehicle was set on fire

Former boxer David Lemieux’s vehicle was set on fire in front of his home in Laval Friday through Saturday.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday, “neighbors called after the explosions,” said Lt. Steve LeBoeuf of the Laval Police Service (SPL).

The black Mercedes-Benz sustained heavy front-end damage. He was stationed in the rue des Alismas in the district of Sainte-Dorothy. No nearby property was damaged and no one was injured in the incident.

At this time, the origin of this fire is unknown. Investigators who examined the scene are currently engaged in a search operation.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have yet been identified by police in the case, Lt. LeBoeuf said.

In August 2022, former boxing champion AndrĂ© Fernand Lemieux’s father was shot dead in Montreal. He was allegedly targeted at random by 26-year-old Abdullah Shaikh, a mentally ill man who killed a total of three victims before he was shot dead by officers.

David Lemieux, 34, went 43-5 professionally between 2007 and 2022. He was briefly the IBF World Middleweight Champion in 2015.
