SPVQ patrol officers intervened at the licensed establishment at around 12:45pm on Saturday because a 21-year-old man wanted to fight with several people. He was soon arrested.
That’s when the situation escalated.
While the arrest was underway, the attack was carried out a few meters away [des deux patrouilleurs] between two citizens. Police approached the suspect and arrested him. It was at this time that a hostile crowd of about sixty people formed and gathered in the direction of police intervention.

Then a 29-year-old man severely assaulted the police officer and sustained a head injury. The suspect began to hold the officer to the ground. Other officers had to use force to subdue and arrest the suspect
A police force was added.
As the crowd grew increasingly hostile, officers had to use pepper spray to drive him away, officials said.
When the situation was brought under control, four people were arrested for contempt of a peace officer and disorderly conduct, according to municipal regulations. Some strongly resisted arrest and necessary force had to be used to subdue them.
