Freezing snow in Quebec: A car skids and hits a pedestrian

A driver who was forced to stop due to the weather hit a pedestrian in Val-Bélair on Thursday morning.

The collision happened around 6am at the corner of rue du Chef and avenue de l'Amiral. At this time, the roads are already covered with snow.

“The driver traveling southbound on Rue du Chef wanted to stop, but the road was very slippery. The vehicle was unable to stop,” explained Sandra Dion, spokeswoman for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ).

A 49-year-old woman was hit by a car as she crossed the intersection while jogging. He was taken to hospital for treatment of upper body injuries.

However, authorities are unable to confirm the extent of the victim's injuries at this time.

Due to the condition of the road following the accident, traffic in the area was blocked to prevent another accident.
