Google encourages developers to create more apps with the unveiling of the Pixel Watch

After Samsung adopted last year, the next Pixel watch release It will be the next biggest catalyst for Wear OS as an app platform, and Google is making the case explicitly.

Meanwhile, the Android team also did something similar to Samsung’s latest launch.

Google’s overview notes that the Pixel Watch “includes the latest platform updates, Wear OS 3.5” and points to app development tools such as Written by Wear OS and the Tiles Material Library, where modern design is a big encouragement. The Android Studio Dolphin update has also been featured with better test experiences for watch faces, tiles, and intricacies.

There is also a case study from Todoistwith the Tasks app seeing a 50% increase in install growth after a complete rebuild of the wearable that took advantage of Compose for Wear OS.

The main focus of the overhaul was to redesign all screens and interactions to match the latest Material Design for Wear OS. With Compose for Wear OS, Todoist developers have moved away from wearable In favor of a flatter application architecture.
