The US Department of Agriculture announced a recall of the product in December. 31 Includes 6,768 pounds of raw ground beef that may have been contaminated with E.coli bacteria. The now recalled products were produced and distributed by Valley Meats LLC in December. 22 with use dated January. 15, 2024 on packaging.
The ground beef was shipped to distribution centers in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan, then distributed to restaurants and other establishments, according to the USDA. Recovered beef is packaged in several different sizes ranging from 12-pound boxes to 40-pound boxes. A complete list of recalled packages and how to identify them It can be found on the USDA website.
There have been no confirmed illnesses as a result of this issue, which was identified after third-party testing on beef submitted for analysis confirmed the presence of E. coli bacteria. If you have any of the recalled products in your refrigerator or freezer, you should throw out the beef immediately.
