According to Global Affairs Canada, some representatives from the department also met with Cuba's ambassador to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz. “Minister Jolie spoke with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez to discuss the situation,” the ministry added.

A mysterious disappearance

Faraj Allah Jarjor's body has not been seen by relatives since it was taken to a hospital in Havana last month. The 68-year-old man, who was then vacationing with his family in Cuba, died of natural causes a few hours earlier.

Much later, when the funeral procession contacted them, the sixty-year-old's relatives realized that their father's body had accidentally been exchanged with another Russian man. We were able to send him home soon.
