It’s time to get another Moebius-like video game for PC, called XTAL

Brilliant French artist Jean “Mobius” Giroud had one of the most iconic art styles, and while his work has inspired video games for decades –Including those he worked on directly—Few of them manage to really look like one of his illustrations comes to life.

Although, we got one last year, with excellent sableand now we get another one called XTAL (You can also count Pixeljunk invaders If you feel generous). As may be yours Think of the classic Aphex Twin a pathAnd the XTAL Described by its developers as “an elegant blend of action and exploration with a fast-paced combat system that combines elements of TPS, Hack ‘n’ Slash, and Bullet Hell with a vibrant art style inspired by French comics.”

(Yes, I know Mobius isn’t the only artist in the “French Comedy” style, as this sheds light on the hugely influential works of people like Jean-Claude Mézière, but this clearly goes straight for Mobius’ unique look.)

I apologize to anyone who has read this so far I still read it as “Morbius”but it is not my fault that the Internet has worn your mind.

Here is the game’s trailer, with the plot summed up as follows: “Echoes of the distant past reverberate across the planet Ciro, while devastated landscapes are spoiled by a mysterious force. You, as the Seeker, will take advantage of lost technology to engage in combat and explore a vast and exciting world. for memories.”

Looks great! The game is developed by True Colors, an independent studio located in Turin, Italy. Note that although this trailer looks impressive, the game is still so very early in development. XTAL is coming to Steam…eventually, though given what I’ve just said above, it’s no surprise that there isn’t even a tentative release date to accompanies the new Steam page.
