March Madness 2022 live: NCAA Women’s Championship bracket, first round results, updates, Friday schedule

The first round of the 2022 NCAA Women’s Championships has finally arrived, with fans bringing non-stop basketball on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to nearly midnight. So grab a cup of coffee — or three — and get ready to go.

The two seeded No. 1 women, South Carolina, Louisville and Stanford, began their competitions in the tournament on Friday.

• The Gamecocks, ranked #1 overall after going wire-to-wire as the #1 AP team all season, justified their top ranking in a first-round match. The South Carolina Bison hit 79-21 in a game that led 44-4 in the first half.
• Caitlin Clark, the nation’s top scorer in Iowa, made her NCAA 2022 debut, collecting 27 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds in a 98-58 win over Illinois State.
• Louisville dominated Albany 83-51, and second guard Healy Van Leith led the way with 20 points, four rebounds and three steals.
• Stanford, the reigning national champion, finished the night with a game at 10 p.m. against Montana State in the Spokane area.
