Melissa Gilbert criticizes SAG-AFTRA over Halloween strike rules

It’s unclear whether violating SAG-AFTRA’s guidelines will result in any official consequences, and the union did not immediately respond to EW’s request for clarification on the matter on Friday.


Either way, Gilbert flagged down SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher and chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, rebuking them for what fellow actor Kevin Zegers called a “frivolous and incompetent” move.

Meanwhile, the actors’ strike is approaching its 100th day, and negotiations with Hollywood studios broke down again last week. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers withdrew from the table and said in a statement: “After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great, and the conversations can no longer move us in the production direction.”


SAG-AFTRA called on the studios to return to the negotiating table.
