MONTREAL-NORTH: Sixth arrest for shooting at children's park

Police have arrested a sixth suspect as part of an investigation into a street shooting near a children's park in Montreal North last month.

The arrested suspect is just a 16-year-old boy. He was later released on a promise to appear before a youth court. Specifically, it must be charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

However, authorities indicated that once all the evidence gathered during the investigation is analysed, “additional charges will be laid against him”.

It is said that the youth was involved in the shooting that took place in the middle of the street in the early hours of February 12th.

According to the authorities, “a chase between two vehicles” took place, a stone's throw from the children's park, on rue Prieur, near the avenue du Parc-Georges intersection.

At least six shots were fired during the event, and no one was injured.

A few minutes later, a bullet-riddled vehicle was in the parking lot of a grocery store on Pi-IX Boulevard, two kilometers from where the shooting took place.
