Murder in Limoilo: Murder for aiding a rape victim

A 19-year-old girl found dead in Limoilo between Wednesday and Thursday night was allegedly killed for helping a victim report sexual assault.

According to various sources who wished to remain anonymous, Daphne Jolivet may have been a victim of retaliation.

The latter would have encouraged a young woman in 2022 to report her attacker to the authorities. The person involved in the case is currently awaiting trial in another case.



The murder on Rue Geneviève-Lamarre is the sixth homicide to occur in Quebec in 2023.

Recall that a 19-year-old woman was found lifeless in the basement of her family home, along with a seriously injured 16-year-old boy. A knife weapon was allegedly used to attack them.

Another 16-year-old was arrested for impaired driving and vehicle theft that led authorities to the gruesome discovery. His role in this entire story is yet to be established.

A caring woman

Distraught by these events, the friends still struggle to understand what could have motivated the killer to attack such a “sweet girl”.

“She was very attentive to everyone, it’s hard for us to believe it. I wish I had time to tell her that she meant a lot to me,” breathes Gabriel Quay, a friend of the victim for many years.

A young woman studying special education technology was told by those around her that the bomb had hit her. Friends in contact say she has “no shady connections”. Newspaper.

“She was a very sweet, exceptional girl. She chose her friends well and she would never have rubbed shoulders with unfriendly people,” says M’s friend Marie-Eve Poitou.me Jolivet from primary school.

“No one is safe”

Considering the young woman was the victim of an unbelievable attack, not to mention other murders in the area since the start of the year, many are asking questions about their own safety.

“I think everyone feels a little bit insecure right now. When a girl like Daphne is attacked, no one is safe,” laments Gabriel Quay.

A heart “that big”

Like her circle of friends, it’s hard to believe that her colleagues at the Mgr Marcoux Center (CMM) will no longer see the discreet smile that Daphne Jolivet gave her when she walked through the door.

“Everyone was shocked to hear the news. Daphne, she spent a lot of time at the center in her life. When he was young, he came to the day camp here and often participated in activities, and then he was a counselor for several summers,” says General Director Oliver Mercier.

For a year, the young woman was Adozone’s community organizer. Every week, he spent evenings with the youth attending CMM. He organized activities and trips to provide them with a positive environment and build relationships with each other.

“You have to have such a big heart and exemplary patience to work with this client and Daphne had these great qualities,” notes a colleague. Newspaper.
