Seinfeld Actor Peter Crombie died after a short illness. He was 71 years old.
The American actor is best known for playing the role of “Crazy” Joe Davola in the fourth season of the American comedy series, which ran from 1989 to 1998.
The news was confirmed by his ex-wife Nadine Keigner, who described her “shock and extreme sadness” at the loss of Crombie, in a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday (January 10).
Along with photos of her and Crombie's wedding, Keigner wrote: “It is with great shock and sadness that I share that my ex-husband passed away this morning. Thank you for so many wonderful memories and for being a good man.”
“So many people loved you because you were a kind, giving, caring and creative soul.”
I told TMZ that Crombie died after a short illness. However, his cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
“He was the kindest, most caring, giving and considerate man,” Keigner added. “He was loved by everyone, generous and never had anything bad to say about anyone.”
Crombie joined the cast Seinfeld in 1992 when he was cast as “crazy” Joe Davola, who spent five episodes terrorizing and tormenting show lead Jerry Seinfeld.
Crombie's character also dated Jerry's girlfriend Ellen (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) at some point in season four.
Comedian Lewis Black and director Jay Russell paid tribute to Crombie in heartfelt messages shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Black's post read: “I am heartbroken by the passing of my dear friend Peter Crombie. He was a gifted artist. Not only was he a wonderful actor, he was an extremely gifted writer.”

Russell, who played Crombie in the 2000 film My dog skippedHe wrote: “Peace be upon my friend Peter Crombie who was a wonderful, caring, generous man and a wonderful actor.
“Peter gave me his great talent, playing the 'bad guy'. My dog skipped And he did a perfect job of scaring dog lovers around the world. I hope he is at peace now. Happy trails, maestro.
