Pokemon Presents August 2023: Everything Announced

The August 2023 Pokémon Presents event wrapped up and featured 35 minutes of brand new Pokémon announcements. IGN has you covered with everything that was announced during the August 2023 Pokémon Shows here.

Pokémon: Path to the Peak is a new animated series focusing on the trading card game

Kicking off the event, we got our first look at Pokémon: Path to the Peak, a new short animated series focusing on the official Pokémon Trading Card Game. The new animated series will debut at the Pokémon World Championships, which starts later this week.

Return of Detective Pikachu is getting a new trailer

We already knew we were getting a sequel to Nintendo 3DS Detective Pikachu. And today, we got the first trailer, which introduces some of the characters that will appear along with some gameplays. In particular, Detective Pikachu Returns will allow you to investigate several crime scenes.

Detective Pikachu Returns arrives October 6th, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Horizons: The series is ‘coming soon’

We got our first look at Pokémon Horizons: The Series. Although not much has been shared, we do know that it will be set in the Paldea region, based on the Pokémon that appeared in the series. No release date has been announced but we do know it’s “soon,” according to The Pokémon Company.

Pokémon Go is getting Paldea monsters next month

Nearly a year after the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Go is finally getting pocket monsters native to the Pladea region. These Pokemon will be available starting next month.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Stadium 2 are finally available on Nintendo Switch Online

The Pokémon Company announced today that the Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Stadium 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch Online susbcription today, both available shortly after the show wraps.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is now available for those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and those with the Switch Online + Expansion Pack can access that in addition to Pokémon Stadium 2.

Mew and Metwo are coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can add Mew and Mewtwo to their collection. You can get Mew now by entering the password Get It’s on Scarlet or Violet’s Mystery Gift list, but the password is valid until September 18th, so don’t wait too long to redeem the code. Mewtwo will be available via Tera Raid battle starting September 1st.

Pokémon: Paldean Winds is a new animated web series that will be released on September 6th

We got our first look at Pokémon: Paldean Winds, a new anime series set in the Pladea region. Much like the games it’s based on (Pokémon Scarlet and Violet), Pokémon: Paldean Winds will focus on a student who wants to become a Pokémon trainer.

The first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet content arrives next month

We got an extended look at the expansion pack and a look at the new gameplay for The Teal Mask, the first of two paid DLC expansions coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The show introduced two new characters and confirmed that those who play the expansion will have a chance to catch a handful of new Pokémon not already available in the base game of Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask arrives September 3 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
