Last year, development of the KOTOR remake was paused indefinitely following disappointment with progress on the highly anticipated RPG. The demo created by Texas-based studio Aspyr apparently failed to impress when shown to Lucasfilm and Sony, leading to development being put on hold. The remake’s art director Brad Prince and design director Jason Minor subsequently left the project.

The KOTOR remake was then ported from Aspyr to World War Z and Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive. Both studios are owned by parent company Embracer, which is currently shuttering studios, canceling games and laying off staff amid a punishing restructuring.

The KOTOR Remake trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel is set to private mode.

Aspyr worked on the KOTOR remake for three years before it was finally announced at Sony’s PlayStation 2021 showcase, where the original voice actor was revealed. Jennifer Hale will be back Like Bastila Shan.

At the time, it was scheduled to be released as a PC and PlayStation 5 console exclusive and was described as a complete remake developed from the ground up.
