Sources – Pistons trade Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks to Knicks

The New York Knicks have acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for guards Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Ryan Arcidiacono and two future second-round picks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

For New York, which is currently dealing with injuries to Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson, and OG Anunoby, adding two veteran players who can slot into the rotation right away will help bolster a team that hopes to finish the season with one of the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference standings. . .

Bogdanovic, 34, is averaging 21 points per game and shooting 43% from 3-point range for Detroit this season and will immediately step in as the team's starting force while Randle is out. As a versatile scorer and shooter, he will help take the pressure off All-Star Jalen Brunson and give the Knicks more firepower coming off the bench once injured players begin returning to the court.

He also has a partially guaranteed deal for next season, giving the Knicks the option of either taking Bogdanovic on the roster or moving on from him depending on his salary situation.

Burks, 32, spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons with New York before signing with the Pistons, averaging 12.7 points in the first season and 11.7 in the second. In 43 games with Detroit this season, Burks is averaging 12.6 points per game, and is shooting 40% from 3-point range on 5.7 attempts per game.

Grimes, 23, was the No. 25 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by New York and spent most of last season as the Knicks' starter before being moved to a bench role earlier this season. But he should play well on the wing for the Pistons, a team that needs to shoot, as he is shooting the ball 37.9% on five attempts per game from behind the arc.

Fournier, 31, has not played a starter over the past calendar year after falling out of Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation last season. He has a team option for next season and would be an interesting option for teams competing in the buyout market if he ends up being released from Detroit.

Flynn just arrived in New York last month in Anunoby's trade with Toronto, and Arcidiacono played in 20 games this season off the bench for New York in mop-up minutes and never scored a point.
