Taylor Swift has spoken out after Ticketmaster canceled the general sale of tickets for her upcoming “Eras Tour.”
“We will. Needless to say I’m very protective of my fans. We’ve been doing this for decades together and over the years, I’ve brought a lot of elements of my career home,” she began her statement, which was posted to social media.
“I did this specifically to improve the quality of the fan experience by doing it myself with my teams who care about my fans as much as I do. It’s really hard for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and allegiances, and it’s painful for me to watch mistakes happen without recourse.”
Swift said there were “many reasons” people were “having a hard time trying to get tickets” and is trying to figure out how to “improve” the disastrous rollout going forward.
She continued, “I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we’ve asked them several times if they can handle that demand time and we’ve made sure they can.”
“It’s really amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but what really bothers me is that a lot of them felt like they had multiple bear attacks to get them.”
Swift, 32, said she hopes to provide “more opportunities” to meet with her fans who couldn’t get tickets.
“Thank you for wanting to be there,” she concluded. “You have no idea how much that means.”
Ticketmaster made the announcement on Thursday, devastating hordes of Swifties who couldn’t secure concert tickets.
“Due to extremely high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient stock of tickets remaining to meet this demand, TOMORROW goes on sale to the public for Taylor Swift | Eras Tour CANCELED,” the company said in a tweet.
Twitter users were Quick to ask Swift for a word on thisthat they have now received.
“This tour is called Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Under her name. She needs to say something about this,” one of many resents Post fans.
“Please say something this is devastating to the people who have loved and supported you for over a decade and came out of this with nothing @taylorswift13 please say anything,” another begged.
The cancellation of the public sale came after the CEO of Live Nation’s largest shareholder blamed increased demand from 14 million users — including bots — for disruptions to the site, including slow queues for pre-sales earlier this week.
Tickets to Swift’s show — set to premiere March 17 in Glendale, Arizona — cost between $49 and $449 each.
Reportedly, fans saw Tickets cost up to $22,000 On ticket distributor website StubHub.
A portion of the fans said they spent eight hours virtual queuing on Ticketmaster after tickets went on sale before being kicked out unexpectedly.
Announce Swift her highly anticipated tour earlier this month. The Eras Tour will support her record-breaking album, Midnights, released in October.
Ticketmaster has been met with widespread criticism in the aftermath of the “Eras Tour” debacle.
Several — including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and more members of Congress — have expressed support for merging Ticketmaster from Live Nation, which is widely considered a monopoly that may violate antitrust laws.
