Two Montreal beauty salons caught fire

Broken windows, charred walls, collapsed owners… Two beauty salons in Greater Montreal were set on fire overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

“This is my worst nightmare. I’m in shock! So much work, commitment, investment… gone in an instant,” says Gabrielle Charbonneau.

He is the owner of the O’Naturel Care business in Rosemary, which was hit by a Molotov cocktail last night. After a series of fires at pizzerias, two beauty salons were targeted by arsonists within hours of each other.

Around 1 a.m., a call to 911 was made, and city police patrolmen were immediately dispatched to the scene of the fire. Firefighters brought the fire under control and found fire extinguishers at the scene.

“The suspect was found and arrested shortly after the fire started,” confirmed Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Sergeant Eric Gadot.

Provincial police have also reopened the investigation due to “complicated elements”. The suspect is expected to appear soon.

For the Rosemere entrepreneur, it was a dream that has now been shattered.

“Fire went through me A safe place, a place where I can live from my creativity, magic, and where I feel at home. I have no words to describe what I feel. I am completely devastated,” she testified in a tearful video on her company’s Instagram account.

Despite this heavy blow, Gabrielle Charbonneau believes that even though the business has been heavily affected by the fire, it will be able to continue providing care to its customers in one way or another. He thanked his customers for the outpouring of love received from the events.

In Montreal, there was also a misunderstanding among the owners of Ongles Alexandra, the Westmount beauty salon that burned down the same night.

At 5:25 a.m., the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) responded to a fire at a business on Victoria Street, near de Maisonneuve Boulevard West.

“I woke up and got a missed call from the police. They said my business was burnt down. I don’t know why or what happened,” said the owner of the complex during an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

Two suspects were seen throwing an incendiary object through a window before fleeing. The fire was quickly brought under control, but no suspects were arrested.

According to police forces in charge of investigations, it is still too late to know if the two fires are related.

“At this time, all possibilities are being considered,” said Agent Véronique Dubuc, spokeswoman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
