NEW YORK – For the second time this season, the The New York Yankees will need to play without Aaron Judge.

New York plans to put its superstar on the list for people with a bruised and sprained ligament in his right big toe, coach Aaron Boone said after his team lost Tuesday night to the Chicago White Sox. Al-Qadhi does not have a broken or broken toe, according to team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmed.

“The most important thing right now is to try to get the swelling down there,” Boone said. “He made some improvements today, but now we’ll see what he’s like in the coming days and then a week. But the biggest thing is getting the swelling down there.”

“I think it definitely could have been worse. I hope he was on the shorter side of things.”

Judge was injured while making a catch and hit the stadium fence Saturday against the Dodgers and has not played since.

He also spent some time on the injured list earlier this season with a right hamstring strain. When healthy, Judge set MVP numbers again, hitting .291/.404/.674 with 19 homers and 2.2 bWAR in 49 games.

Text depth is also tested in New York.

Nestor Cortes will be placed on the injured list with a left shoulder injury. Boone stated that Curtis struggled to bounce back between starts. He is expected to miss at least two starts.

So far this season, Curtis has a 5.16 ERA in 11 starts, striking out 59 strikeouts in 59⅓ innings pitched.

To replace Curtis, New York called up Randy Vasquez from Triple-A. Right made his major league debut on May 26 against the San Diego Padres, allowing 2 runs in 4 innings pitched.

Also, pitcher Ryan Weber has been diagnosed with a UCL strain. The 32-year-old right fielder has made eight starts this season, posting a 3.14 ERA in 14 innings pitched.

“It now outlines a course of action,” Boone said of Weber. “If it’s going to be rehabilitation over time. Surgery is on the table. No decision has been made on that yet.”
