Winter cold: Quebec will take a detour next week

Since the beginning of November, Quebec has experienced a cold spell. Temperatures will be near or slightly below normal. A stubborn trough allows arctic air to penetrate the province. However, the news for next week is encouraging. The road to winter may take a detour.

Long term 1A

Abundance of sweetness

Starting in the middle of next week, a strong ridge to the west of the province will cause milder weather to spread into Quebec. In southern Ontario, temperatures are expected by the end of September. For Bellevue Province, the mercury will rise above the seasonal average for several days.

Good sequence

For southern Quebec, models indicate a maximum near 10°C. If these temperatures appear moderate, the passage of a low pressure system in the northwest, for example, could be enough to blow these moderate winds into Quebec territory. In southern Ontario, the mercury could reach 20 degrees Celsius in some places. Remember that the last 10°C on average occurs in many parts of Quebec at the end of November.

Long term 2

Cold is not far away

By the end of the month, temperatures are expected to return to reality. Quebec must return to the atmospheric tank, which will allow the cold to recapture. Additionally, strong winds aloft create a favorable path for storms to pass through.
