A man wanted for terrorizing a Société de Transport de Montreal (STM) employee finally surrendered to police last summer, frustrated after missing the last metro in Montreal.
Authorities confirmed the 56-year-old suspect turned himself in at the Eastern Intelligence Center, where he was arrested by investigators at the scene.
He was interrogated and later released on a promise to appear in court.
The facts he is accused of occurred on the night of July 3 at the Joliet Metro Station. Around 1:20 a.m., the suspect allegedly assaulted an STM employee because he was angry at not being able to take the metro, whose service was disrupted overnight.
The enraged suspect first insulted the employee and then threw an “object” at him before chasing him to his personal vehicle.
The STM employee then took refuge in his car to defend himself from his assailant. He would have had the opportunity to damage the vehicle before finally escaping.
Damage to the vehicle is estimated at approximately $5,000.
Last week, after being unable to locate the man involved in the incident, Montreal police released images from surveillance cameras where the suspect was wearing a fisherman’s hat.
