A young man was shot in the Laval library

An 18-year-old man was shot dead inside a Philippe-Panneton library in West Laval on Monday evening.

At around 7.13pm, the victim was targeted by a suspect outside the municipal building, when the fire was opened, a spokeswoman for the Service de Laval Police, Detailed Agent Stephanie Peshara.

The young man was hit in the lower body and was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries, the police official said.

That person is known in police circles and we have added without going into his identity.

According to TVA Nouvelles, several staff members and four hosts were inside the library at the time of the shooting. At least four shells are said to have gone through the building’s window.

The gunman discharged the gun and fled. Not immediately arrested.

Laval police have launched an investigation to try to find out a little more about this new shooting that adds to a long list of events involving weapons since the beginning of the year in Greater Montreal.
