Blockage on rail | A train stopped at the old port

A freight train engine has been stationary at Montreal’s Old Port since 6 p.m. Wednesday. She was probably derailed.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) confirms that there was no collision with another vehicle and no injuries were recorded. This incident is not criminal in nature.

It is a “barrier” in relation to the train’s tracks, which has caused this immobility and consequently slows down traffic in that sector.

The train’s engine and first wagon, still stationary in the early evening, are near the bell tower. The pieces appear to have been detached from the rest of the train and instead parked in front of the science center.

The operational wagons of the train were able to resume their journey around 7 pm, clearing the path for pedestrians.
