Coroner: Marguerite Place clashes with Arruda and McCann

Coroner Géhane Kamel, who arrived Friday to testify at the public hearing on the waves of deaths in CHSLDs in the spring of 2020, left his sick leave to testify, recalling Marguerite Place being on leave outside the country shortly before the crisis erupted.

“Absolutely the opposite”

It was only when he returned on March 9 that he was informed of the dangers of CHSLDs by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the risk to the elderly affected by COVID-19.

Are CHSLDs ready?

More than a month after the first meeting between Franசois Legalt and Horacio Arruda, Marguerite Blais was confronted with Info Sunday’s announcement on February 8, 2020. The Minister replied that he had not seen this document.

He also described the steps taken by Quebec to tackle the crisis. Quebec is particularly focused on preparing hospitals considering the situation in Europe, and these companies have been particularly affected, he explained.

“Everyone has good faith and everyone thinks it will happen in hospitals. When we set up specialized hospitals, we put up a pediatric hospital that we thought would affect children. That did not happen. We were unaware, ”she explained.

The Minister added that CHSLDs would not have been given special attention as they are used to managing all types of explosions, however, this is not a question of negligence.

“CHSLDs are known to manage eruptions,” he stressed. This is not the first time there have been outbreaks of CHSLDs, and it will not be the last.

Intense emotions
