Investigation into woman who gave birth in car in La Prairie

The Roussillon Intermunicipal Police Board is investigating the mysterious case of a baby girl who gave birth in a car parked in the middle of the street in La Prairie on Thursday.

“The woman and her child were rushed to the hospital centre. Maneuvers were performed on the child, but he was in critical condition and we were afraid of him at the hospital,” explains Patrick Jasmin, Public Relations Officer for the Cooperative of Ambulance Technicians of Monteregi (CETAM).

For his part, the police confirmed that they received a call from the 38-year-old mother at 3:56 a.m. after the delivery.

According to the police officer, the woman may have called 911 before she fully recovered her baby.

“We take it seriously. We need to understand why it happened. That’s why we’re investigating right now,” says Agent Johnson.

According to CETAM, the woman was alone in her car when she gave birth. Unlike her child, first responders were not concerned about her Thursday night.
