An object resembling an old military shell was found in a ditch by a citizen walking through the Saint-Etienne-de-Lauzon sector in Lévis on Tuesday.
The person in question made the surprising discovery at 12:50 p.m., near the intersection of Chemin Craig and Route des Rivières. At that time he was walking on the nearby cycle path.
“Patrol officers established a security perimeter and Craig Road was closed for about thirty minutes while we contacted the military,” said Jean-Sebastien Levan, spokesman for the city of Ville de Police Department. Levis (SPVL).
According to officials, the risk of an explosion is very low. So a certain safety perimeter was maintained and the road was reopened.
Canadian Armed Forces pyrotechnicians are expected to recover the object in question.
