Saint-Hyacinthe: Beaten to death by his roommate

A man in his sixties remains in critical condition in hospital after being attacked by his roommate on Thursday evening in a residential building in Saint-Hyacinthe in Monterrey.

A fight broke out between the two inside a residential building located on Saint-Jacques Avenue near the intersection of Morin Street around 7pm.

The reason for the argument between the two roommates in the evening is unknown.

Police were called to the apartment of the two men, where they found the victim unconscious on the floor.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition with serious injuries. We are informed that his life was hanging by a thread.

As for his fifty-year-old roommate, he was arrested at the scene of the assault by Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers.

According to our sources, no weapon was used during the crime. The suspect allegedly used physical force to injure his roommate.

SQ Crimes Against Persons investigators were dispatched to the scene in the evening. Forensic identification technicians were also on site to examine the crime scene.

The suspect should be met by investigators at the end of the evening and given his version of facts.
