The City of Montreal announced that it will open six temporary emergency shelters for people without power starting at 9 p.m. Thursday.
The shelters will allow Montrealers to stay warm and spend the night, the city of Montreal explained in a press release issued Thursday. They were established in association with the Red Cross. They are open on Thursdays from 9pm.
Six temporary shelters are open in Montreal
- Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace – Côte-des-Neiges Sports Center: 4880 Avenue Van-Horn
- Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace — Notre-Dame-de-Grace Sports Center: 6445 Monkland Avenue
- Saint-Leonard – Saint-Antoine d’Exupery School 5150 P.T. Robert
- Verdun – Marcel-Croix Community Center 4501 Pannantine Ave
- Villare-Saint-Michel-Park-Extension – Lasallian Center (Community Center) 3001 Rue de Louvain E
- Mercier–Hoselaga—Maisoneuve – Center Pierre-Charbonneau 3000 rue Viau
Also, Citi pointed out that “Montreal is working hard on the ground to ensure the safety of the population and the fluidity of travel.”
“The Montreal Fire Department recommends that users of space heaters pay particular attention to carbon monoxide (CO) toxicity,” the city notes.
