“Tonight is special for me”: This is how Fady Dagger will spend his New Year's Eve

Montreal City Police Chief Fady Dagger will be busy Christmas Eve as he travels the streets of Montreal to support police on duty.

Mr. Dagger first began his December 24 festivities by going to lend a hand to Les Fourches de l'Espoir, an organization in Montreal-Nord that reaches out to the private in the neighborhood.

“There are a lot of people who don't have anyone to talk to at Christmas,” explains the organization's founder and director, Brulinda Reyes. We distributed 150 meals, gifts and small treats to help single people in Montreal-North have a wonderful Christmas.

“We've been doing this for five years,” he continues. We always have volunteers like today, forty volunteers and about twenty cars on the ground to give some cheer before they go and celebrate their Christmas.

Fady Dagger said he was touched by the people he met.

“There were elderly people, single people, disabled people,” he says. It was heartwarming to see those faces. They were alone and this might be the only visit they would get today. So give everyone a little hope and stay with them.

In the evening, the leader of the SPVM will travel the streets of Montreal in support of police officers on the ground in the company of a man he trained in the early 2000s.

“Tonight is special for me,” he said. 23 years later on the road I see one of the first police officers I ever trained.

“Simon and I are going to drive up to our police officers to wish them a Merry Christmas and say a big thank you to them for everything they do because they miss being with their families. [pour être en poste]», he adds.
