Tweet from François Legault: Prime Minister’s “total contradiction”

Francois Legault’s tweet during the Catholic holiday of Easter was not unanimous.

After the denunciation of the Quebec Solidaire and the Liberal Party of Quebec, it was the turn of the Judiciaries to disbelieve the relevance of this declaration.

“We want to keep religion aside. No longer does it want to spoil health, power and education. However, the prime minister who embodies the power of Quebec, when he chooses a religion and talks about Catholicism, I have the impression of seeing a dog chasing its tail,” explains Yasmin Abdelfatal.

The former leader of the New Democratic Party, who is Catholic, also says it is the prime minister’s fault.

“Complete contradiction! His assertion that there is watertightness between the state and religions is thoroughly tested by such a statement (…) Mr. I see that Legault is right to conflate controversy and government and blame others. On the other hand, political essayist Mathieu Bock-Côté believes that we can recognize the role of religion in Quebec’s history without affecting the future decisions of society.

“We can take the history of Quebec. We’re not going to retroactively secularize the past. We can’t pretend that the Quebec of 1932 was the same secular Quebec as it is today. We think history and Easter are the time to do that, but we’re not recreating the past because the collective choice called secularism We have done. In my mind, we can choose tradition, memory and politics at the same time,” he says.
