Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante will be absent Monday morning when the municipal council meets to vote on the 2024 budget, a week after experiencing discomfort during a press conference.

Mrs. Plante made the announcement on his X (Twitter) account early Monday, saying that he was fine, but that he “needs to slow down his activities.”

“This morning, the Municipal Council meets to vote on the City of Montreal’s 2024 budget. I would like to thank my elected colleagues who are exceptionally responsible for this occasion. I have to continue to slow down my activities, although thankfully I am feeling better and better. I will come to your side as soon as possible.

Just last Tuesday Valérie Plante had a weakness in front of the media during a press conference.

“Oh, I’m sick,” she said half-heartedly, leaning behind her lectern at City Hall.

Seconds before her collapse, Ms Plante suddenly fell silent while answering a journalist’s question in English. With a pale face and downcast eyes, she found herself sitting on the ground. Immediately his crew came to his aid.

Ms. Plante was not transported by ambulance.

The cause of his illness has not been publicly disclosed, but this is the second such incident in a few months.
