The Red Cross wants to take care of at least 40 families in a major fire that broke out in a residential building last night in Dolard-des-Ormaux.
About 150 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Just before 9pm, two buildings in Brunswick Boulevard began to catch fire, said Patrick Fornell, division head of the Montreal Fire Department (SIM).
“Nine Red Cross volunteers are ready to analyze the needs of individuals. At present, at least twenty houses have been damaged and we plan to help nearly 40 families,” said Carroll du Salt, a spokeswoman for the Red Cross.
Residents of 149 homes were evicted from the premises.
One person was troubled by the flames and Argentes-Sande took charge.
“I went outside and saw the flames. People were running everywhere. It was so crazy, ”said local John Duperry.
At the time of writing, at 11:30 p.m., no serious injuries were reported.
According to Sim, only one person was bothered by smoking.
Around 300 people were watching the burning building at 10:30 p.m.
Many of them were taking pictures of this horror-like scene.
A large black smoke was seen in the surrounding area as firefighters continued to work to contain the blaze.
The Journal found that the burning building was in “X” shape. According to our information, a fire broke out in the architectural center, which did not facilitate the work of firefighters.
